The American Camaro Association, Inc., formed in 1998, is non-profit. It was created in an attempt to fill the void left by the loss of the International Camaro Club, the United States Camaro Club, and later, the Worldwide Camaro Club. Our staff is comprised of a group of Camaro owners, who volunteer their time for the good of the hobby. Paid membership was set aside in the mid-2000’s, as printing and postage for the newsletter began to outstrip the cost of membership. As the hobby has grown and use of the internet has become second nature, a return to formal membership has become viable again.
The goals of the association are to support Camaro owners, and to help unite the f-body hobby in a way that helps create and maintain a dialog between Camaro owners and Camaro clubs nationwide. In order to maintain this dialog, we strive to maintain and update a list of Camaro clubs and groups across the country; which Camaro enthusiasts can access in order to find a local Camaro club in their area. Having Camaro owners join and be part of a local organization, helps maintain their involvement, and expands the base of the hobby. Link to Club Listings. We advocate the sharing of information and successes between organizations, for the good of the hobby as a whole…starting with “Take a kid to a car show”, supporting everyone with daily drivers, modified cars, concours restorations, and everything in between. It is often said that Camaro events and Camaro people seem to be more open and friendly than owners of other marques; and friendly sharing of information is a key to maintain the fun of owning a Camaro. Via specials and discounts, we hope our members can recoup most, if not all their membership costs with savings on items purchased from our sponsors.
Lastly, we feel it is important to maintain a multi-level judging standard which can be repeated year after year. Like Corvette, Mustang, Porsche, and other collectable marques, having an established recognized judging system is paramount to maintaining broad interest and activity in the vehicle. It promotes an ongoing increase in quality when restoring or modifying, and also promotes maintaining original models to a higher level. In all these cases, the results are often higher volume of parts and services for suppliers, who in turn, help the hobby with donations, and other forms of support. This also increases the likelihood that more parts are available to help Camaro owners maintain, personalize , or restore their cars more easily and more accurately.
